The MSA Cairns® 1836 Fire Helmet is the latest innovation in traditional fire helmets from the brand that has been pioneering head protection for generations. In fact, since 1836.

The Cairns 1836 Fire Helmet was developed in response to firefighter preference for a lower profile helmet that is comfortable and easier to clean.

Features that Enhance Firefighter Performance and Comfort

  • Lightweight: At approximately 8% lighter*, helps reduce fatigue after wearing it and working in it for an extended period of time.
  • Low Ride Height: With 0.5” reduction in ride height, reduces snag hazards and improves center of gravity, which can help to reduce fatigue.
  • Pivoting Ratchet and Headband Adjustment Arms: Provides customization for diverse head sizes, shapes, hairstyles, and headwear and accommodates 95% of male and female firefighters. Allows more comfortable fit while wearing facepiece and hood.
  • Headband and Cushion Liner: Help reduce pressure points during prolonged wear.
  • Cushion Liner Fabric Material: Brings ease of wear with soft and comfortable textile.
  • Redesigned Soft Goods: Offer lightweight, comfortable FR protection utilizing TenCate Tecasafe® TechT4™ material.
  • Streamlined Design: With 42% reduction in parts*, feels well balanced when the head is leaned forward, backward, or side to side.
  • Articulating Defender® Visor: Snaps into place, stows neatly, and can be deployed by simply pulling down on the lens.
  • Shell Release System: Enables the energy-absorption system to be released from the helmet shell when impacted from below the brim and leaving the energy-absorption assembly on the head for continued thermal and impact protection.

Engineered with the quality, durability, and safety that firefighters have come to expect from MSA Cairns, the Cairns 1836 Fire Helmet is designed to enhance comfort as well as performance on scene.
