Building on 10 years of continuous innovation, the MSA G1™ SCBA XR Edition is the latest evolution of the G1™ SCBA, featuring enhancements to the breathing air regulator and to various soft goods:

• The universal emergency breathing safety system (UEBSS) and quick-fill pouches sit closer to the body.
• The lumbar pad is shorter, which improves donning and doffing as well as overall comfort and fit for more sizes.
• A basic swivel lumbar allows the SCBA to sit closer to the body and reduces the SCBA weight approximately a half pound.
• The straps on the unit are longer to accommodate more sizes.
• The T4 regulator, used for breathing air, features an enhanced valve that is easier to grasp with a gloved hand.
• There is a change to the inside color of the G1 Facepiece’s nose cup to help facilitate easier installation.
• All soft goods are removable for easy cleaning.
• All enhancements are backward-compatible to existing G1 SCBA units.
• Certified to NFPA 1981:2018 and NIOSH 42 CFR Part 84.

These enhancements were designed and implemented in part to address changes in the new NFPA 1970 standard, which became effective on September 18, 2024.
